I have some newer ones and get the "error 001, unauthorized device detected" error. I have a wiikey installed in my wii and It can load all my old backup discs. Atmel clones usually are, unless they are programmed incorrectly with bad fuse settings. Some update discs will show the gamecube logo but fail to load- this is the telltale sign.Īfter the 1.9s update, the clones are functionally identical to the wiikey- unless u buy some homebrew kinda alien clone. is that no original will boot and no discs will read except that one hex edited GCOS boot disc (boot loader). The symptom that you have a clone and 3.0 or higher firmware. This is because the clones did not come shipped with software on them and update 3.0 blacklisted the setup discs. However, if you have wii firmware above 3.0 (3.2 is current) then you have to hex edit a boot disc and start with update 1.2 before 1.9s. After some unbelievable pains (that I wont go into) I learned that the clones work just as well as the legit wiikeys. RealBIGmike wrote: ↑Everyone is saying to buy a legit wiikey.
